33 - Welcome Mrs. Tom, Mrs. Dick and Mrs. Harry !

33 – A number that has been ringing in our ears for the past two weeks. A woman’s reservation Bill – soon to turn into an act, that provides 33 % reservation for women in all legislative bodies.

From where did our rulers get this sudden compassion for the women of this nation and feel the necessity that they should be present when decisions of high importance are taken?

Which section of Indian women is this act going to be fruitful to?

Definitely not the common Indian woman, whose tiresome day starts before the sun rises and ends after the world dozes off.

The sole reapers will be the wives, daughters, sisters and a big bunch of in-laws (the size of the bunch depends upon the number of wives) of the age old politicians occupying the chairs presently.

In short, this bill paves way for the entry of family members of a politician into the Government. Congrats MK ! Must be great news for you...

When Her Highness, the intellectual great, Mrs. Rabri Devi can become the Chief Minister of a state.. Is it so difficult to generate a few more clones to fill the 181 seats?

This 33 % reservation will bring more puppets into the assembly, who will be tapping the desks and raising slogans, without ever knowing the magnitude of the post they are holding.

This bill is nothing new an idea and has been proposed several times by several governments, and has never passed the Parliament. But what is so special about this rebirth of the phoenix? Necessity is the mother of invention. Sonia is such a mother to Congress. She has been successfully inventing ideas to divert problems and has never combated them.

Inflation up to 20 %

Aam aadmi suffering for his daily needs

Infiltration from China and Pakistan

Headley ran away. Quattrochi flew away.

Debts with the World Bank soaring up

(These are just problems that struck my mind in a moment’s flash. If I have to list the whole lot, neither the size of the blog nor my life would be enough)

How to divert the media, the people, the Opposition and the country as a whole from such burning issues? Simple. Bring up a social problem that can overshadow all this. Caste, creed, religion and race are all issues that have been used up already. People are exhausted talking about them. So what’s left? WOMEN !!!

INDIAN WOMAN DOES NOT HAVE REPRESENTATION IN THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY ! The whole country gets diverted to this.

A man who talks against this is a chauvinist.

A woman who talks against this is a traitor.

Sonia Gandhi, who is being rendered as the redeemer of Indian women, is just exploiting the Indian woman’s social illiteracy to her advantage.

She has been clever enough to develop at least one ‘revolutionary’ tagline for every election. If the aam aadmi won it for her in the previous attempt, it will be the aam aurat this time.

(Why am I dragging Ms. Antonio Maino into this? Isn’t this to do with the Govt. Of India? – If this question just propped up in your mind, you are very much new to Indian politics)

This bill is sure to have a huge impact on the women and I fear it will be more negative, rather than positive.

“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent” said Eleanor Roosevelt. The Indian women have just given their wilful consent to be regarded as inferior.

Any reservation is an act of bringing up the down trodden and suppressed from the shackles of the society. By reserving seats for women, they are being labelled as ‘suppressed’, which is NOT the case in today’s society.

There are living examples right from Kiran Bedi to Indra Nooyi that women can move up to towering positions without ‘reservation’.

It is high time the Indian woman started looking up to such people who empowered the women society, rather than idolising the Italian born wily, who is holding the threads of this country and making it dance to her horrible tunes.

Unless and until women work their way up to the Parliament, they will neither realise the significance of the chair nor discharge the duties of it properly.

The women in the Parliament today are people who started as mere party workers and they have grown to this stature (forget whether they are good or bad! Its long since the word politician became sinful). Although, the number of women in the assembly is less, their voice is heard and is given as much importance as the Ministers of other gender.

If the 33 % reservation is to come into existence and Mrs. Tom, Mrs. Dick and Mrs. Harry are to become a part of the Indian Government, the voice of the women will get diluted. A sudden permeation of 160 more women into the Parliament will be a mere act of foolishness. This abrupt growth will strangle the House and the women Ministers will be looked upon as ‘women’ and not as ‘Ministers’ !

It has come to such a stage where the Indian citizen just cannot sleep without hearing the word ‘quota’ once a day. Take up any newspaper.. On any given day.. Any language.. There will be a news item about some ‘quota’ that keeps lingering around..

It is comical to see that the Government still believes in this system, even after the miserable failure of the Mandal Commission. The educational reservations have been in place for over thirty years now and its major contribution is making Congress win more elections!

The same is about to happen with the ‘quota’ for women. Let decades come.. Let centuries go.. The Indian woman will be kept away from contributing to the biggest old age home of India !

If CON is the opposite of PRO...

CONgress is the opposite of _ _ _ _ _ _ _ (needless to say!)

WHAT A NATION !!!

Months back.. A painter ! Depicts the symbol of a nation naked..

Had it been a south western nation, it would have executed him right there.

Had it been a western nation, it would have jailed him forever.

Had it been China, it would have put him in prison and our children might be playing with the toys made by him.

But it so happened that the nation was a sovereign secular democratic republic state called India...

And surprising things did happen...

A clarification.. The symbol of the nation is not Taj Mahal – some valentines of India assume it to be so... It was Bharat Matha who was depicted naked...

Objections and agitations did spark (There are still some sensible Indians left on this soil) and the usual procedure starting from the raising of Murdabad slogans to burning of the effigies of the painter was clinically followed. (Even those sensible Indians have to follow these insensible practices to grab the attention of the people concerned)

The media came to the rescue of this eminent painter.(Disclaimer: All adjectives used to describe the painter are those claimed by the long living national newspapers and nascent 24x7 news channels. The author does not share similar views and burning of the author’s effigies for the same is strictly not advisable) The names of the painter, newspapers and channels are not being mentioned with the assumption that they are evidently known to the readers.

May be you think the media wanted to safeguard the life of this painter who was worth a national treasure and may be they employed the usual tricks to divert the attention of the people from the topic! There you are taken by surprise. This part of the Indian Media is gutsy and straight forward, especially when supporting the wrong notions and people.

So what they do is – Fight for the Freedom of Expression of this gifted artist who can draw and depict anything in any way he wants. (Other than those hurting the Christian/Muslim emotions! WHY? – Minorities ! – Vote bank ! –Elections ! Indian politicians ! Government!)

Even Bharat Matha doesn’t escape his appetite for creativity(!) that she is stripped naked in his “ART WORK” ! And a chunk of the fourth pillar of the nation calls that as the artist’s freedom to express his skill and talent with the brush.

I wonder... If the artist was so hungry for naked paintings, why not depict his own family that way! Would his wife or daughter say a NO to it? After all, he is a great artist and to be part of his painting (forget being naked) is a boon nevertheless.

Or why not depict those media people (who willingly digest this work arising out of the Freedom of Expression) and their families! It wouldn’t bother them either. They are the upholders of the torch of this Freedom!

Why Bharat Matha ??? What wrong did she commit, to be so depicted by the hands of this mindless maniac?

Are you still wondering what is making me go mad against this incident?

It is this recent happening in Punjab.

Few days back...

“Objectionable” posters containing Jesus Christ were published in Punjab.

Was he naked in it? No.

Was he in an ugly shape or pose? No.

Was it vulgar? No.

Then what sort of depiction has triggered so much of violence?

Depiction with a beer can and a chicken’s leg!

Oh my god! That’s gross! How objectionable !! Media is fuming. How can this happen in a secular nation? It is Jesus Christ ! The God... How can you hurt the Christian sentiments? (When Indian sentiments are there to be beaten up and buried !)

The police get into the action. A special team is formed! It finds the people who printed these posters; Arrests them. Interrogates them to find out their motive behind such a depiction ! Tries to establish their links with people in other states ! And who knows... More drama is surely to get unveiled!

What do the poster printers think of themselves? Are they scholars like the one mentioned in the former case?

With what freedom in hand do they do all this ?

When such depictions are made, it is obvious that people will protest against it ! The only difference being...

When Christians take it to the streets (on account of religion) ... Those responsible for such shameful acts will be arrested ! Curfew will be declared ! Safety of the Christians is important !

When Indians take it to the streets (on account of the nation) ... The artist will escape unscathed, rather with lot of praise and pomp! Protesting Indians will be arrested ! Safety of the rest of the people is important !

WHAT A NATION !!!

The Final Surprise : The artist was to be awarded RAJA RAVI VARMA AWARD by the Government of Kerala ! Thanks to the Kerala High Court, it was stopped. And his name has been recommended for BHARAT RATNA several times!

Funny Fact : The artist is on a self imposed exile to United Arab Emirates and says he misses India tremendously !! Why wouldn’t he ? Which other country would give him freedom and protection to hurt its own sentiments, pride and dignity !!!

P. S.: (Please do read it to avoid all possible misunderstandings that have arisen in you)

1. It is not a measure to separate the Christians from Indians. I respect Christians, their emotions, religion, etc. and agree that any act that hurts their beliefs and sentiments are to be strictly punished. This is just a measure to differentiate and show, how biased a treatment the minorities get, on similar or less important issues and how shameless the authorities are, on such sensitive issues concerning the decorum of a nation.

2. I am certainly not a Hindutva activist ! Just a dutiful citizen of this country who gets agitated at such acts, but is just left with a blog to write down his opinions and feelings about any such incident.

MY FIRST POST

Blogging has always been my dream and today it has realized. As titled, 'A White Paper', all my aim is to bring out the wholesome truth on issues that I feel deserve a lot of importance, but are either being overshadowed or miscued by many elements of this nation !

With this humble beginning, I hope to receive your support in the form of criticism to help me improve.
