33 - Welcome Mrs. Tom, Mrs. Dick and Mrs. Harry !

33 – A number that has been ringing in our ears for the past two weeks. A woman’s reservation Bill – soon to turn into an act, that provides 33 % reservation for women in all legislative bodies.

From where did our rulers get this sudden compassion for the women of this nation and feel the necessity that they should be present when decisions of high importance are taken?

Which section of Indian women is this act going to be fruitful to?

Definitely not the common Indian woman, whose tiresome day starts before the sun rises and ends after the world dozes off.

The sole reapers will be the wives, daughters, sisters and a big bunch of in-laws (the size of the bunch depends upon the number of wives) of the age old politicians occupying the chairs presently.

In short, this bill paves way for the entry of family members of a politician into the Government. Congrats MK ! Must be great news for you...

When Her Highness, the intellectual great, Mrs. Rabri Devi can become the Chief Minister of a state.. Is it so difficult to generate a few more clones to fill the 181 seats?

This 33 % reservation will bring more puppets into the assembly, who will be tapping the desks and raising slogans, without ever knowing the magnitude of the post they are holding.

This bill is nothing new an idea and has been proposed several times by several governments, and has never passed the Parliament. But what is so special about this rebirth of the phoenix? Necessity is the mother of invention. Sonia is such a mother to Congress. She has been successfully inventing ideas to divert problems and has never combated them.

Inflation up to 20 %

Aam aadmi suffering for his daily needs

Infiltration from China and Pakistan

Headley ran away. Quattrochi flew away.

Debts with the World Bank soaring up

(These are just problems that struck my mind in a moment’s flash. If I have to list the whole lot, neither the size of the blog nor my life would be enough)

How to divert the media, the people, the Opposition and the country as a whole from such burning issues? Simple. Bring up a social problem that can overshadow all this. Caste, creed, religion and race are all issues that have been used up already. People are exhausted talking about them. So what’s left? WOMEN !!!

INDIAN WOMAN DOES NOT HAVE REPRESENTATION IN THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY ! The whole country gets diverted to this.

A man who talks against this is a chauvinist.

A woman who talks against this is a traitor.

Sonia Gandhi, who is being rendered as the redeemer of Indian women, is just exploiting the Indian woman’s social illiteracy to her advantage.

She has been clever enough to develop at least one ‘revolutionary’ tagline for every election. If the aam aadmi won it for her in the previous attempt, it will be the aam aurat this time.

(Why am I dragging Ms. Antonio Maino into this? Isn’t this to do with the Govt. Of India? – If this question just propped up in your mind, you are very much new to Indian politics)

This bill is sure to have a huge impact on the women and I fear it will be more negative, rather than positive.

“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent” said Eleanor Roosevelt. The Indian women have just given their wilful consent to be regarded as inferior.

Any reservation is an act of bringing up the down trodden and suppressed from the shackles of the society. By reserving seats for women, they are being labelled as ‘suppressed’, which is NOT the case in today’s society.

There are living examples right from Kiran Bedi to Indra Nooyi that women can move up to towering positions without ‘reservation’.

It is high time the Indian woman started looking up to such people who empowered the women society, rather than idolising the Italian born wily, who is holding the threads of this country and making it dance to her horrible tunes.

Unless and until women work their way up to the Parliament, they will neither realise the significance of the chair nor discharge the duties of it properly.

The women in the Parliament today are people who started as mere party workers and they have grown to this stature (forget whether they are good or bad! Its long since the word politician became sinful). Although, the number of women in the assembly is less, their voice is heard and is given as much importance as the Ministers of other gender.

If the 33 % reservation is to come into existence and Mrs. Tom, Mrs. Dick and Mrs. Harry are to become a part of the Indian Government, the voice of the women will get diluted. A sudden permeation of 160 more women into the Parliament will be a mere act of foolishness. This abrupt growth will strangle the House and the women Ministers will be looked upon as ‘women’ and not as ‘Ministers’ !

It has come to such a stage where the Indian citizen just cannot sleep without hearing the word ‘quota’ once a day. Take up any newspaper.. On any given day.. Any language.. There will be a news item about some ‘quota’ that keeps lingering around..

It is comical to see that the Government still believes in this system, even after the miserable failure of the Mandal Commission. The educational reservations have been in place for over thirty years now and its major contribution is making Congress win more elections!

The same is about to happen with the ‘quota’ for women. Let decades come.. Let centuries go.. The Indian woman will be kept away from contributing to the biggest old age home of India !

If CON is the opposite of PRO...

CONgress is the opposite of _ _ _ _ _ _ _ (needless to say!)

  1. All dumb parties in the nation are for the stupid 33 thingy. By doing this....all the females in our country accept that they aren't strong enough to consider themselves to be a man's equal and work like him but its a shame on all of them to openly exhibit their back door entry. Well.... you can't blame CONGRESS for that.... then why the hell are the opposition parties? its their job to stop whatever the ruling party does, which they think is wrong. Well the meaning for congress cannot be derived like what you have done cos for the last ten years, they are in power and you will have to admit the good they have done....especially with thaathaa mk around, they have done lots for the state and of course for thaathaa's family members! so stop blaming congress alone!

  3. @ Dr.Pak..

I kinda agree. There isn't one single party that can do a better job than congress.
Unfortunately, that was not a complement 4 congress! Its a huge shame for India....

But what I personally hold against Congress (as does Ganesh,i guess..) is that I want my country's decisions OR mistakes to be done by some one from my country!

  5. @Dr.Pak: Congress has been in rule for over 50 years sir! If proper research is done, you ll certainly find that the rate of growth has been more during others' tenure than the Congress. And they cannot claim accolades for the development alone. They have been the major contributors to most of today's problems, incl the never-seems-to-be-ending Indo-Pak war, which was a result of our First PM's cowardly action of going to UN!

@chandra: Thanks a lot for the support da! Many more to come. Stay in touch!

@black bala: Thanks a million! Thats why I put it as "White Paper" :)

  6. I would seriously suggest that ETS takes a call and reviews their GRE reading comprehensions, probably include passages from excellent blogs like this one, instead of those boring passages they usually come up with. :)
